Texas Highly Targeted in Dec. 12 Cargo Theft Reports
Twelve cargo theft incidents were reported from 11/30-12/6, the majority occurred over the weekend. Eight additional incidents from 11/22-11/29 were received this week by CargoNet, most happened on Tuesday the 29th.
Texas was the week’s cargo theft hot spot with five reported incidents. Commodities stolen included vehicles and auto parts, household items, and building materials. Sixty percent of the thefts took place at truck stops.
The nation’s other high targeted states were California and Florida, with stolen commodities that included household items, food and beverage, commercial goods, and a warehouse theft of pharmaceutical/medical freight.
The week’s hottest commodities were commercial/industrial goods and household items. Food and beverage tied vehicles and auto parts for the third most targeted freight.
In addition to cargo, six tractors and two trailers were stolen from parking lots, truck stops, and yards throughout the country.
